How to clean wrought iron product

Wrought iron gates, fences and furniture can add a beautiful touch to any landscape. Unfortunately, harsh weather can take a toll on wrought iron over extended periods of time. In order to keep your fence, patio furniture and wrought iron garden objects in the best shape, learn how to clean wrought iron properly.

Things You’ll Need:
· Kerosene or turpentine
· Steel wool pad (non soapy)
· Wax or special paint for wrought iron

Step1 To remove rust from wrought iron, use a steel wool pad.
Step2 Add a few drops of kerosene or turpentine to the steel wool and rub it on the rusted spots on your fence or patio furniture. You may have to apply pressure as your scrub.
Step3 Once you have removed all of the rust, apply a coat of wax to your wrought iron for protection against water and snow.
Step4 If you wish to seal your wrought iron fence or furniture, choose a special paint that's intended for use on wrought iron. You will be able to find this type of paint at a local hardware store.

Do not smoke when using kerosene or turpentine. Do not leave contents in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Kerosene and turpentine are highly flammable.
